Bright World begin the journey to further Child Protection training for ALL Staff

27th November saw the coming together of the Bright World Local Coordinators' and Head Office team, for a day of Child Protection Training.

This was one of the first steps on a long journey for Managing Director Lana Foster, who began working closely with Chris of Child-Safe, earlier this year in order to learn more about this all important issue and to begin the process of integrating awareness within Bright World.
The starting point came in the form of unique Policies and Procedures which have now been clearly set out and distributed to all staff members working for Bright World and for the guardianship students under our care.

Chris Gould led the session, beginning by informing all of the Local Co-ordinators’ and Head Office staff present that he would be taking them through Child Protection Induction training Level 1
He explained that this would allow staff to demonstrate a further understanding of safeguarding so that they would be able to recognise the signs and signals of child abuse. The training would also allow all BW staff to learn more about the relevant legislation and guidance frameworks which are already in place here in the UK.

Chris began a very influential organisation in the UK, ‘Child-safe.’
Child-safe are an organisation focusing solely on the protection and prevention of abuse of children and young people away from home, particularly in the ‘global youth travel sector’.
With such an appropriate goal, Director of Guardianships, Fiona Walters and MD Lana Foster deemed it crucial to increase Child Protection training, along with Chris’s guidance and to make the Safeguarding of Bright World students the number one objective as we draw 2012 to a close and move into 2013.

"This is the first step in a long journey for Bright World. As Bright World staff, I expect a shared commitment to the safeguarding and Protection of Children in our care."

Lana Foster, Managing Director.
