Bright World Host Local Coordinator Conference

Determined to see our standards grow in line with student numbers, this year we decided it was time to change the function and format of our bi-annual Local Coordinator (LC) meeting. A meeting which allowed us to update Bright World’s Local representatives on any major changes that may affect their role as Mentor to students on our guardianship programme and to review the year gone by.
Held over the course of two days at The Hickstead Hotel in Sussex this June saw us host our very first LC Conference with an additional goal; to strengthen the lines of communication between our head office team and Local Coordinators.

Following a tight agenda LCs were placed into groups so that they could attend important meetings with members of the Guardianship head office team to review all areas of their role and to flag up any areas where fluidity between teams could be improved. Members of the Senior Management team also held presentations on the importance of Safeguarding our students, future plans for the new portal, Blink, a review of deadlines for the new academic year and a seminar on cultural differences. Furthermore Director of Admissions Sheena Trist held the attention of all delegates with an overview of her role at Bright World as the head of Boarding School Placements, sharing an insight into her work as a UK based Education Agent.

 The two day conference didn’t just have a daytime agenda however, staff members were invited to attend a Courtyard drinks reception where the mingled (some reluctantly) with an extremely convincing David Brent impersonator followed by a 3 course meal with line dancing to round off the evenings events.  

 

So why is communication and unity so important for us here at Bright World?

Behind the scenes at head office we have a centralized team who are responsible for the organisation of the guardianship programme, making all arrangements on behalf of our parents and our Partner Schools. However In order to deliver high standards of service combined with a local on the spot pastoral care service we have a team of Local Coordinators who work for us around the country. Our LCs live close to the schools and are there as a friend and mentor for students on our guardianship programme.
