Stover School succeeds in abundance at Ten Tors 2012

Ten Tors 2012

One of Bright World's partner School's were made very proud at Ten Tors this year!

Stover School’s Team Managers Colin Brown and Amanda Head were very proud of all the pupils who took part in this year’s events. Anna-Mae Cole tackled the Jubilee Challenge JC3 event walking almost 13 miles to earn herself a gold medal and is now determined to have a go at an even more challenging route next year.

Stover’s 35 mile and 45 mile teams crossed the finishing line within 20 minutes of each other and although the strong sunshine but wet conditions underfoot had made for tough going at times, they all certainly felt it had been worthwhile and for the younger students taking part for the first time, it was the experience of a life time.

Jessica Doyle, 35 mile Team Captain said, “It was harder than I had ever imagined, but to finish and see everyone waiting for us was something I will never forget – it was amazing!”

Bright World attends the British Council International Agents Fair 2012 in Oxford

Yesterday along with 24 UK Boarding Schools, Lana Foster and Charlotte Hamson, from Bright World attended the British Councils International Agents Fair 2012.

The fair was held over two days at the Oxford Belfry Hotel. Meaning Agents and Schools were able to meet preliminarily on the first evening, Tuesday 8th.
Guests were treated to a delicious 3 Course meal, with a rotation system allowing agents to mix in amongst all of the 24 Boarding Schools.
Some agents and Schools continued there discussions into the Hotel bar but soon retired with the thought of the looming early morning appointments.
The next morning after a complimentary breakfast Bright World, along with the other Boarding Schools began setting up their stands. Bright World was very pleased to stand out with a Bright Green and dark purple table cloth!

Bright World was lucky enough to be the only Guardianship organization in attendance at the Fair and played an important role in educating Agents and Schools in the great need and legal requirements surrounding Guardianship for International students.
Lana and Charlotte also discussed the Bright World Placement service, available to parents and Agents alike. Lana (Managing Director) was thrilled to be congratulated on Bright Worlds’ continuing success, by Yulia Kolot, from Insight Lingua; (pictured above) An Agency in Russia, who frequently call upon Bright World, when needing Placement support and of course to provide an airtight Guardianship service for Russian students from as young as age 8.

On Monday 30th April one of our Guardianship Care Managers, Tammy Lindsay met with Ruth Webber; our new Local Co-Ordinator for York.

Tammy did some LC training then visited two schools in the area– Bootham and Queen Ethelburga’s College.

Tammy Lindsay, Guardiaship Care Manager;

“At Bootham school we met with Mike Shaw, houseparent and he gave us a tour of the school which comprises beautiful buildings and landscaped gardens. We then went to Queen Ethelburga’s College and met with the head of boarding – Sue Ginger – for an interesting and informative chat. The facilities for students at Queen Ethelburga’s are second-to-none, and it was a lovely sunny day with the students out playing games on the playground and running track. Lizzie Gibson, houseparent for Senior Girls gave us a tour of the girls’ boarding house and an overview of boarding life at QE.”
