A visit to Rossall School

Earlier this month Guardianship Care Manager, Carol Stevenson made the trip up to Rossall School to meet with two of her students, Beasy Bao (far right) & Alex Chuchin (far left.) Carol makes sure that Beasy and Alex have a safe place to stay during the School holidays or transfers to and from the airport should they decide to travel home.

Carol (pictured above, second from the left) was accompanied by Local Coordinator, Liz Trist (above second from the right.) Liz is Bright World Buddy to both students, visiting them throughout the year and making herself available to them by phone and email.
Carol and Liz were given a tour of the school with Beasy and Alex before sharing a lovely lunch with Travel organiser, Gillian Leggett.

“It was great to meet some of my students. Alex was really cheeky and when I asked what he was interested in and what his favourite thing at school was, his reply was free time.” Carol Stevenson, Guardianship Care Manager.

Goodbye token from Bright World student

Last week Bright World student, Aleksei Baryshev decided to present the staff at Oswtry School with a cake to say thanks for all their effort and hard work.

Bright World Buddy, Judith Morton-Nash accompanied Aleksei and gathered in the head master's study with the school staff whilst Aleksei cut the cake. This was followed by an impromptu speech from Headmaster, Douglas Robb (pictured left with Judith and Aleksei)

Aleksei spent a short half term at Oswestry in order to get a taste for life here in the UK. He will now return home to Russia to decide where he would like to continue his education.

“We all enjoyed a slice of cake and a nice cup of tea and chatted to
Aleksei about his time at Oswestry. Dave Arnott, Aleksei's house parent
told me that he thought that Aleksei had settled in very well and he
hopes that he will come back to Oswestry School.”
Judith Morton-Nash, Bright World Local Coordinator
